T-Mobile Electronic Beats is where emotions bring people together. It’s a project that discovers and promotes interesting and meaningful cultural and media phenomena.
Electronic Beats is close to music, technology and art because that’s how you can experience inspiration together. At its midway point, the project encounters T-Mobile New Horizons International Film Festival and the curator of the festival’s music scene, Kostas Georgakopoulos. We are one of the T-Mobile Electronic Beats summer music stages and are proud to present your lineup for all those sleepless nights at the Arsenal.
Kostas Georgakopulos is the curator of the festival's music scene:
In terms of contemporary music, what interests me are projects from the world of experimental hip hop, as well as the music and message of British artists representing the English variety of this genre, referred to as grime, which includes a powerful social message in addition to great music. I recommend the concerts by Shabazz Palaces and Zebra Katz for these reasons. The former especially is an absolute revelation. I have been trying to book them for a long time, and they're coming to Europe at our special invitation. Zebra Katz is best known for his performances with Gorillaz. Darren Cunningham, known as Actress, will be visiting from the United Kingdom. He is one of the most interesting and most important figures in the contemporary European electronic music scene. Inga Copeland will also play here - she is a fascinating Russian artist who is known as one half of Hype Williams, her fantastic duet with one of my favorite artists, Dean Blunt. Inga will be performing work from her new album, an intriguing mix of dark, somber sounds and extraordinary musicality and melodies. This is a special project for us and a rare example of this sort of music in Poland. Those of you who remember the concert by H09909 from 2016 will be thrilled to know the English band Bloodsport will be playing live - they offer a form of musical mischief along the lines of H09909. The very same day, the Belgian-French group Vitas Gerulaitis- absolutely amazing - will also be performing. I met them a year ago during the selection of bands for a French showcase. This is the sort of music that is even better live. I urge you to check it out. I should also mention that there will be a significant amount of Polish music at the festival. In addition to stars like Fisz Emade, Mitch and Mitch and Jacek Sienkiewicz, you will also have a chance to see dozens of other great bands and producers (Resina, Hatti Vatti and Enchanted Hunters), including artists from the Wrocław-based label Regime Brigade. Finally, you will have a chance to see the extraordinary DJ Lag from Durban, an artist who has generated a lot of excitement and huge expectations. Like my personal favorite Shabazz Palaces, he is coming to Europe for his one and only show.
